Mia A. Thomas, CPA, CGMA, President


Mia is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration School of Accounting degree and a minor in Computer Science. She is a licensed CPA in the State of Florida. She is also a licensed real estate salesperson and Florida Notary.

Mia currently serves on the following professional boards and committees: AICPA Council Member, Immediate Past Chair of the FICPA, and Emeritus Trustee and Past President of FICPA Educational Foundation.

TaxWatch has appointed Mia Thomas to the Florida TaxWatch Tax Advisory Council. The Council – comprised of top-level business tax professionals, tax policy experts and lawmakers – will meet throughout the year to discuss local, state and federal tax policy issues affecting Florida taxpayers. The Council will focus on state and local taxes, compliance and legislative or regulatory activities to serve as a resource as Florida TaxWatch plans future research agendas. 

Mia was awarded in October 2012 one of 25 of "The Most Powerful Women in Accounting" by CPA Practical Advisor Magazine. She was chosen for this inaugural award because of her leadership, service, and accomplishments for the CPA profession in Florida. Nominated by the FICPA, she joins an elite group of women in the United States.

She currently serves on the following community organizations: Treasurer of Panua Partners in Hope, a ministry empowering orphans & vulnerable children in Kenya, Africa, Treasurer of Athlete Connection Foundation, Inc., Finance Director for the National House of Hope, and Board member of Orange and Seminole County Academy of Finance. A passion for our youth, Mia is a volunteer for Promiseland for the ministry of the First United Methodist Church of Winter Park. She has previously served on the AICPA Minority Initiatives Committee & Past Central Florida FICPA/PAC Chair, Past Committee Chair of the FICPA Accounting Careers Committee,  Past Chair of the Women's Leadership Committee, Past Treasurer of the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund. She is member and Past President of the Asian American Association of Central Florida.

Mia has been featured in the AICPA Publication Accounting Today and Florida Trend Magazines. As an advocate for the accounting profession, she is featured in the AICPA Accounting CPA Profession Video and their website Start Here, Go Places. She is a frequent guest speaker on Business Etiquette and Protocol, International Income Tax issues, Accounting and Tax Considerations, & Professional Career Development. Her article "Work Life Balance" has been published in the Florida CPA Today Magazine and reprinted with permission in other State CPA Publications.
